- God’s PEACE—God's mind... (Joshua 1:9; Philippians 3:7-11 & 4:7, 11, 13, 19; James 4:7-10)
Capturing our souls—i.e., how we think, choose, and feel about God and others, about ourselves and our struggles. About everything and everyone!
As Holy Spirit guides and teaches us from God’s Word our soul discovers the riches of living from God’s POWER & PATH, God's PERSPECTIVE, God's PRESENCE & PEACE. We learn that our God—our Father, our Savior, and Holy Spirit—has set us free. Free from sin’s penalty, power, and practice. Free to learn how to live free from sin’s hunts, haunts, and habits (Galatians 2:20; 5:1). A freedom and wholeness that prompts our souls—our thougths, our choices, and feelings—to worship God in every experience (John 4:24)
We investigate God and others, you and your struggles, in the light of God’s Word. For help and healing of your personal brokennesses. Sexual and beyond. For sex is often just a symptom of our true brokenness.
To this end, Pastor Ron journeys through NHE’s Find True Identity Discipleship with five to ten men each year. Men struggling with various sexual brokennesses—straight, gay, bi, etc. even sex crimes.
THE QUESTION ON EVERYONE’S MIND IS—HOW LONG?
How long does this discipleship take? More importantly, will I ever get free? Is freedom even possible? How long does it take to overcome these overwhelming screams of lust? Well, King David asked this ‘how long’ question in Psalm 13.
I’m hurting, Lord—will you forget me forever? (sound familiar?) How much longer, Lord? Will you look the other way when I’m in need? How much longer, Lord? How much longer must I cling to this constant grief? I’ve endured this shaking of my soul. So how much longer will my enemy have the upper hand? (Psalm 13:1-2, the Passion).
But consider. How long have you been entangled in your brokenness... in your sin? How long has lust dominated your every thought, choice, and feeling? How long has porn and masturbation stolen hours of your day… week… month… year?
We could ask it like this. How long have you missed God? Missed His power? His path? His perspective? His presence? His peace? How long?
Well, I can’t answer the question of ‘how long?’.
Everyone is different. Some journey through BASICS and walk away free in six months. Most continue to study with us much longer. I can say this—the more you invest in your freedom the more secure it becomes. The more time. The more effort. The more heart. Help and healing is yours as you invest in learning to live from Jesus’ Life within.
This isn’t a marathon... IT'S A JOURNEY!
When the screams of sin—its hunt, its haunt, and its habits—its pursuit—its chase—when the screams of sinning begin to distance themselves from you, and when the whispers of Holy Spirit grow louder than those screams, help and healing have begun to take hold of your heart.
A NOTE: the temptation may never go away; but we don't have to be its prey!
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13)
Then the question becomes—how long does that freedom and wholeness last? And the answer is simple—for as long as you continue to grow in God’s Life. You can NEVER stop! You MUST always:
- Lean into God’s POWER.
- Walk His PATH.
- See things from His PERSPECTIVE.
- Bask in His PRESENCE.
- Rest in His PEACE.
God's Life maintains freedom from sin's hunts, haunts, and habits. Nothing else... NO ONE else... can help and heal our hearts of disordered thinking, destructive choices, and damaged emotions. Jesus is the only ANSWER! The only SOLUTION!
CONSIDER GOD'S ANSWER from Romans 7:21-25... I like how the Message Bible words it:
21-23 It happens so regularly that it’s predictable. The moment I decide to do good, sin is there to trip me up. I truly delight in God’s commands, but it’s pretty obvious that not all of me joins in that delight. Parts of me covertly rebel, and just when I least expect it, they take charge.
24 I’ve tried everything and nothing helps. I’m at the end of my rope. Is there no one who can do anything for me? Isn’t that the real question?
25 The answer, thank God, is that Jesus Christ can and does. He acted to set things right in this life of contradictions where I want to serve God with all my heart and mind, but am pulled by the influence of sin to do something totally different.
My friend, how long have you been the prey of sin's chase? How long has the brokennesses of lust captured your heart? And how long are you willing to give to find significant and lasting freedom in Christ? To find true help & healing?
